Annual General Meeting on 26.02.2017

The Meeting was attended by 44 participants.  List attached separately

Dr.Shashi Sewsurn, Secretary welcomed the members and advised that the AGM was held following the  Newspaper Notice for calling the AGM and selection of office bearers for the year 2017.

The Annual Accounts for the period from 01.01.2016 to 31.12.2016 was presented and accepted by the house.

Dr. Sudharshan Sowdi recommended that the new member of the Management Committee should be as far as possible from among the ladies,  as we have to empower them for future leadership.  All the members welcomed the idea.

 The members of the Management Committee were elected in a cordial and congenial atmosphere through nomination and endorsement.     The following members were selected as officer bearers for 2017.

The House placed on record  the yeomen services rendered by the outgoing  office bearers and looked forward for cooperation from all other members to continue the glorious tradition of Kannada Balaga.

The suggestions for future meetings were invited.

Mr.Madhusudhan Bhat suggested  that following the event based expenditure collected from participating members and sponsorship volunteered by members for lunch by some members, the expenditure for conducting meetings have reduced considerably and there have been no major expenditure incurred during the last 2 years.  As such, it was recommended that we should collect only a nominal annual membership from all the members instead of Rs.250.   Mr.Roshan Lewis recommended that we can collect Rs.100 as annual membership and the house unanimously accepted this suggestion and one time entry fee may continue as Rs.250/-

The meeting was followed by a Picnic to La Cambuse Beach and Pont Naturel Beach in the South in the bus.

All the members had lot of fun inside the bus with participants cheering,  singing  in chorus and some dancing to the beats and rhythms of Kannada Patriotic   songs played through the Music System inside the bus.  The birthdays, marriage anniversary of members during the last 3 months was celebrated inside the bus by sharing fruits and chocolates.

  On reaching, La Cambuse Beach, Members had light snacks to refresh themselves.  The new members who joined the Balaga  made self-introduction.  After that, members involved themselves playing Beach Cricket,  Swim in the beach and  visiting  nearby rocks  near the Beach.  This was followed by Housie Housie Game and sumptuous lunch and light drinks sponsored by Dr.Veeresh Akki and Mrs.Mangala Akki,  Dr.Sudharshan Sowdi and Dr.Vasantaprema Sowdi, Dr.Sangeeta Anand Vishal Anand, and Ms.Pushpaa Rao.

After lunch, there was  group photo sessions against the backdrop of beautiful Indian Ocean.

Around 3.00 pm, the Picnic Group travelled towards  another nearby Pont Naturel  Beach. All the members had Photo session of the picturesque background of Natural Bridge and waves splashing against the boulder.

On the way back in the Bus, there was prize distribution session. The prizes were sponsored by Mr.Roshan Lewis.    This was followed by  singing sessions by, Dr Rupnarayan,  Mr.Roshan Lewis, Dr.Shashi Sewsurn, Mrs. Nalini Vadira. , which was enjoyed by all the members.

All the members thanked each other for the excellent way in which Picnic get-together turned out to be,  and thanked main coordinators   Dr.Kumarawamy , Dr.Rupnarayan, Madhusudhan Bhat, Suresh Mulwad,  Dr.Shashi and Jeyraj Sewsurn).    All members especially  thanked  Dr.Veeresh Akki and Mrs.Mangala Akki,  Dr.Sudharshan Sowdi and Dr.Vasantaprema Sowdi, Dr.Sangeeta Anand Vishal Anand, and Ms.Pushpaa Rao  for sponsoring sumptuous lunch and home preparation of delicacies.   Members also appreciated the gesture of Mr.Roshan Lewis to sponsor prizes for children and winners of Housie Housie Game.

  It was also decided that we should have such picnic get together once in 2 or 3 months.
