The proceedings started with the Flag Hoisting ceremony at the open grounds of J.S.S.Academy of Technical Education. Dr.Mohan Ullikashi, Dean, Anna Medical College was the Chief Guest of Honour and unfurled the Kannada Flag. The flag hoisting was followed by singing of Nada geete- ‘Jaya Bharat Jananiya Tanujate’ by all the participants.
Dr.Shashi Sewsurn welcomed the gathering saying that the Rajyotsava Programme was chalked out every in the month of November.
Mr.Madhusudhan Bhat gave a brief introduction of Chief Guest, Dr.Mohan Ullikashi.
Dr.Ullikashi then gave his guest speech in Kannada saying our Karnataka and Kannada language has a glorious tradition and it is a matter of pleasure to celebrate such a festival in the beautiful land of Mauritius. He also advised that the programmes should be compered in Kannada.
The meeting also mourned the death of our member Mrs.Shantalaxmi S, who passed away on 02.11.2016 due to ill health. A slide show of her photos of her association with Balaga Members also shown on the Projector. The meeting observed one minute silence in respect to the departed soul.
Dr.Shashi and other group members sang a few Kannada patriotic songs.
It was followed by a light snacks and refreshments.
The Rangoli drawing competition and Solo Singing Competition for male and female members were held later.
Passing the ball contest was conducted for all the members.
Dr.Jayraj and Dr. Shashi Sewsrun sponsored the prizes for various competiton and games. Dr.Shantaram, from Bangalore, also sponsored the special prizes for children.
The meeting also expressed thanks to Prize sponsors and lunch sponsors. The meeting also expressed thanks to J.S.S.Academy for Technical education for making available excellent logistic arrangements through its staff. It was decided that a picnic programme will be conducted shortly in the lines of picnic conducted earlier on 12.06.2016. The members were requested to suggest a venue.
The meeting ended with lunch sponsored by Mrs.Latha M Bhat and Mr.Madhusudhan Bhat
