Event March 11th 2018

Minutes of the Annual  General Body  Meeting of  Mallige Kannada Balaga, Mauritius  held at J.S.S. Academy of Technical Education  at 10.30 am on 11.03.2018 (Sunday) and Get together Picnic at Le Morne Beach.

The Meeting was attended by 60 participants.

Mrs. Latha M Bhat, Secretary welcomed the members and advised that the AGM was held following the  Newspaper Notice for calling the AGM and selection of Management Committee  for the year 2018-19.  

 

 Mrs.Latha Bhat said that since our last Rajyotsava get together,  our Members had a meeting at JSS Academy Hall  with His Highness  Jagadguru  Sri Sri Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, the President of JSS Mahavidyapeeth  on 08.11.2017. 

 

 It was advised  that following the suggestion received from Dr.Dattu Rao, member, we had arranged for a Banner in both Kannada and English Language  through Mr.Rajashekara Gauribidanuru, who is one of the founder members of our Balaga  and who volunteered the sponsorship of two such banners. 

 

It was also advised that following a suggestion received from Mr.Muralidhar Shenoy, a website has also been created and designed by Ms.Ranjani Prashanth. 

 

The Annual Accounts for the period from 01.01.2017 to 31.12.2017 was presented and accepted by the house.

 

Mr.Madhusudhan Bhat suggested that last year on the basis of suggestion received, we had Ladies as predominantly the members of the Management Committee.   He suggested for this year  we should have representatives from various regions for coordination purposes and also with emphasis on youth, especially since we have many new young members.  All the members welcomed the idea.

 The Management Committee Members  were elected in a cordial and congenial atmosphere through nomination and endorsement.     The following members were selected as Management Committee members  for 2018-19.

The House placed on record  the yeomen services rendered by the outgoing  Management Committee Members  and looked forward for cooperation from all other members to continue the glorious tradition of Mallige Kannada Balaga, Mauritius.

The suggestions for future meetings were invited.  Mrs.Shashi Seswurn advised that we should conduct programmes like Health Camp and for this purpose we may  utilise the funds collected through Membership of the Society.

 

 

The meeting was followed by a Picnic to Le Morne Beach  by Bus.

The Bus journey started with Patriotic songs being played in the Music system of Bus.  The new Banner was unveiled by two of our founder members- Dr.Shashi Sewsurn and Mr.Jayraj Sewsurn.

Light Snacks and refreshments were served inside the Bus.

  On reaching Le Morne Beach, the new members who joined the Balaga  made self-introduction.  After that, members involved themselves playing Beach Cricket,  Swim in the beach and  visiting  nearby cultural Heritage site. .  This was followed by Anthakshari, Children Games, Mind Games Housie Housie Games.  At the end there was Prize Distribution and Thanks giving.

The picnic ended around 4.15 pm and on the way back, Mr.Shekar Naik gave Dance Performance inside the Bus to the background music of popular Bollywood, Kannada and Tamil numbers.
